Oyo rooms does not out of the box but also provides travelers to coolest yet cheapest , efficient and standardize budget rooms. Personally Ritesh with his common man qualities of features tall, thin and scruffy look isn't easy to find in the crowd but this is also the look of founder who puts him as much as 16 hours a day to make his dream come true and has been through a while journey.
Today we talk about the success story of this mastermind behind Oyo rooms- Ritesh Agarwal.
Ritesh was born to a business family in Raigarh. During the growing up days in Raigarh, it was all about fun and learning for him but his way was rather unconventional from those of other kids. His is growing with the working in computer and trying hard to find opportunities to make mistakes so that he could learn something new and doing that he gave keen interest in software and moved on to knowing about more and then the hunger just went on increasing. He borrowed his elder brother books for programming and rest of the programming he learnt from the goggle. He started coding when he was just 8 years old. Later in 2011, he moved to Delhi with strong intentions of starting up something new of his own and at the same time he also prepare for SAT to move to US for further studies. but fortunately or unfortunately SAT never happened. he used to do nothing but read about the entrepreneurs, startups, business, Airbnb. He later joined the university of LONDON'S course at Indian business school but just after 3 days of joining he could not control his craving to start some adventures. so he took leave to do work on the project and finally he never went back.
He always felt that budget hotels in India didn't even meet the very basic needs of budget traveler. Hence capitalizing on this opportunity. He started his first venture in 2012 and called it ORAVEL stays. and this idea become popular and he started funding for their new project from this project.
he becomes the top 10 winners. Due to some hurdles he quit the company and start thinking more for future and realize that the biggest problem for the traveler is to find the good affordable and most important available hotels to stay inn. Through this idea he make an app which provide information of all the available and affordable hotels in one platform. In 2013 he launched OYO rooms and OYO means ON YOUR OWN. It was nothing but an idea to createyounzg and standardize standard rooms. Later in 2014, the company raised 4 crore from Light speed venture Partners and DSG Consumer Partners.
What motivated Ritesh even was that the company was Gross bookings of more than rs. 1 crore per month. since then Oyo rooms went become India's first technology network of standardise hotels and widely expand in popular cities.
android app of Oyo rooms have become 5 million downloads and it also be listed as one of the most top 3 app in travel category. Well Ritesh was one of the real person with passionate work. His success story is a right example how young minds can build bigger dreams and make it happen for all of his success in life.
